Somatic Movement

Nervous System Regulation through gentle exercises and the concept of 'not-doing' as an action. We are a nervous system and our tissues keep the score of our life events and stories.
Practicing Somatic Movement, we learn how to connect with information that comes from our body when we slow down our movement, working in the realm of the subconscious nervous system.
These sessions bring nourishment to joints and tissues and new ways to experience our body, which reflect in our outer world. We open new pathways in our neuro-myo-fascia and can explore new options in our lives.
Exploring somatic psychology is an interesting part of this process of unfolding, which with practice, spills over into our everyday.
Somatic Movement is for everyone, whether you would like to work through some difficult life events, relieve held stress, reconnect with your creativity or find focus for a project. All levels of fitness. Sessions mainly take place on the floor on a yoga mat.

Hypopressive Yoga Flow

A course of sessions to learn the specific breath and functional postures of the Hypopressive Method, linked by a flowing yoga sequence designed for connection through your centre. Originally created for pelvic floor health, this is a method with far reaching benefits, beyond the pelvic floor. Improve postural alignment, ease of movement, flexibility of the deep core, find more effective breathing and balance of the nervous system. A course of six sessions is required to learn the method, and once you have mastered it, you have a daily practice for life. Suitable for most (few contraindications).

TMJD treatment

TMJ pain (jaw pain), clenching and grinding teeth, is often associated with headache, facial pain and ear problems. Sometimes the origin of the problem is stress related, sometimes there is a physical dental problem. Often there is a postural element or compensation pattern elsewhere in the body which results in alteration of optimal function in neck and head muscles, such as Forward Head Posture, seen often in modern lifestyle. Previous whiplash injury, rotator cuff injury have been associated with TMJ issues because of how the body is connected through myofascia.
This course of treatment involves a combination of Trigger Point Massage Therapy of upper shoulders, neck and jaw myofascia, (including accessing muscles via the inside of the mouth) and either Somatic Movement or Hypopressive Method sessions. In this way we take a full body approach to the problem, helping with stress, posture and breathing, which are fundamental in experiencing relief.
